Арьс өнгөний үзэл/Racism

Dear white man,
I’m born, black
Grown up, black
Tanned, black
Frozen, black
Scared, black
Sick, black
And die as black…

But you white man,
You’re born, pink
Grown up, white
Tanned, red
Frozen, blue
Scared, yellow
Got sick, green
And die as gray
And you call me colored without shame.

Team Jacob

So finally I got Eclipse and Breaking Dawn as birthday presents. I started reading Eclipse but starting and finishing were almost same. After all that Edward-turned-and-Bella-house-arrested things the story started to be so gripping that I could not lay down the book untill I finished it. As a result of reading New Moon and Eclipse now I am an official fan of Jacob Black. I like the guy who plays Jacob in Twilight movie too. Taylor Lautner is only 17 years and so deliciously cute :) I like him a lot since I saw how he acted on the MTV Movie Awards when he appeared to present New Moon trailor with Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart. He was nice, cute and humble while the others were acting like they are already celebs.

Now, why I like Jacob? I can give some reasons.

First he is cute. How he cannot be? Or am I deluded by the image of Taylor Lautner?

He is hot. Literally. Due to the werewolf thing his temperature is so high that he does not need to wear so thick clothes, and sometimes no clothes at all... I would say somethings here but I am not a pervert so I shut up :)

He has humor. And perfect smile. White teeth :) I enjoy reading his parts because they are humorous and he uses sarcastic language. I loved 'book two' in Breaking Dawn which is written from Jacob's perspective.

He has confidence to compete with 'the most perfect guy' on the earth. The most perfect guy on the earth is Edward Cullen. But when you read Twilight, Midnight Sun and watch Twilight movie you are manipulated about all the good things about him. I liked Edward in the first place but till he leaves in New Moon and when Jacob comes into focus. It is also annoying that all the time Bella talks about how perfect he is, how nice he smells, how dazzling he is, blah blah blah... People get bored. Jacob loves Bella and even after Edward returns he continues to try hard to get Bella. I like his efforts.

He is loyal. He has never left. Well he tried to leave many times but always came back. He is loyal to his friendship even it hurts him so much.

He is strong, fast, big and hot. C'mon he is werewolf, what else can I say :)

Just see how cute he is :)

ROME Season 2

I was forced to watch HBO TV series Rome. In the beginning I didn't like it. I think I watched 1-2 episodes from the first season but I was not really interested in it because there was that boring old man Ceasar (no offence Ceasar fans, my judgment is only based on the TV character). Then last week I watched second season and finished all episodes (10 ep) in 2 days. So, now I am thinking of watching the first season. My friend would be happy at least :)

About ROME, I'd better talk about characters:

Lucius Vorenus: is a soldier and one of the main characters in the serie. I don't like him because he is cruel and killed his wife (well, his wife cheated on him so he wanted to kill her but she jumped out from window) and cursed his children (so his children end up in slavery and prostitution and hate their father) and he is kinda boss for mafia. He wants to be good person after rescuing his children form slavery and trying to keep peace between mafia and such but what he only does is shutting his eyes and playing stupid. So finally he dies.

Titus Pulo: is a soldier too and Vorenus' best friend but they kinda loyal to two different generals. Vorenus is soldier to Marc Antony and Pulo is loyal to Octavia (later emperor Augustus). Pulo is the most manly man in the movie as character and as appearance. But he cheated on his wife when she was pregnant and caused her death because the other woman was jellous and poisoned the wife. He didn't know about it and was together with the woman but at the end when she told him the truth he killed her with own hand and throw the body in the mud. One thing I am interested is that how come he was the father of Cleopatra's son. I will have to wait to watch the first season.

Marc Antony: is Marc Antony the great general. He is also played by very manly guy. One of the guys I liked in the movie. His character is very close to his historical figure, i guess. He is general to Ceasar and friend to Octavia and lover to Cleopatra. He is lover to Octavia's mother in the movie but in the reality that was not true. But he was married to Octavia's sister for political reasons and it is showed in the movie too.

Octavia Ceasar: is the emperor Augustus. The movie ends by he becoming the first citizen. In the first season he is played by a young guy and portrayed as curious boy who is trying to understand all what's going on politic, army and such. In the second season he is rather grown up and portrayed as very cold, unemotional and political person. I think that was the case too. I tried to read some histories of his life and those people around him.

Atia of Julia: is mother of Octavia and lover to Marc Antony. Actually she loves Antony very much and she was destroyed when he chooses Cleopatra later. But she is my number one favorite character in the movie maybe because I am feminist and I like strong woman. She is strong and does everything to get what she wants. And eventually she gets what she wants that her son become the emperor. She is played by a nice woman called Polly Walker. I put her picture.
Octavian: is sister of Octavia, Atia's daugther. Poor woman, she has to come through unhappy life that is controlled by first her mother, later her brother. Her mother doesn't approve her first marriage so she kills her husband. Later she falls in love with Octavia's best friend Agrippa but they cannot marry because he is not nobelman. So her brother marries her to Marc Antony for political reason. Anyway she continues to see Agrippa and when Octavia find out it he puts her into house arrest or something like that. At the end she ends up with many children by Antony both her own and by Cleopatra.
Agrippa: is a general and best friend of Octavia. He is the other actor I liked most. He is played by cute little guy and he is the only man who has true love. He loves Octavian and they become lovers but Octavia wouldn't let them marry so he has to love 'platonic'. In the reality he is married to Octavia's (emperor) only daughter because Augustus was so much fond of him that wanted to make him closer to himself. He was great general and intelligent man, it is said that he also designed Phanteon in Rome. He is absolutely my favorite by both movie character and real life character :)
Julius Ceasar: is Ceasar, no need to tell who is he. But I didn't like his appereance in this movie. He is like a boring old man trying to play man of wisdom, man of peace, man of greatness. That's why I didn't like the first season, it was full of him talking politics. Luckily he died at the end of the first season so the second season was Ceasar-free :))
Cleopatra: is queen of Egypt. I was expecting her to be showed as dignified as Atia but she was kinda childish and playfull. The woman is sure beautiful as appearance but how she acts is not fit to the character especially at the end when she is running around crying. It's like reality Antony and Cleopatra kill themselves not to surrender Octavia. In the movie, her son is to be Pulo's son but it is true that Ceasar and Cleopatra were lovers and most probably her son was really Ceasar's son but Octavia kills him.
So the second season is like this... I have to watch the first season when I find time. Maybe then my impression on boring old man changes :) They say that the serie was so expensive so that they couldn't afford to continue making it. It is only two seasons and each have 10 episodes. It was filmed in Rome but inside a big movie studio. Surely quality of the picture is very best and it has many sex/sexual scenes, especially through the end you could see every actor/actress naked. You also see many war scenes full of blood and killing and such. But I think it is more reality that way and guys love such kind of things :)

Sadness: Get over tactics

Tactic 1. Get up and face it. It is maybe the hardest way but the fastest and safest way to get over.

Tactic 2. Cry or talk out what is bothering you.

Tactic 3. Allow yourself a time limit (eg. 3 days, one week) for being sad. Feel miserable or sad as much as you want under this time and when the time ends just leave all the sadness behind.

Tactic 4. Think about the times you were sad and times you were happy before. See, time changes.

------------------------------------------

Don't look at the mirror when you cry because that might be the ugliest face you will ever see.

Don't lose faith in God because you might do something stupid easily.

Don't drink alcohol because that will not help you come over the situation but it will prolong the time.

Happy Birthday!

I would like to wish Happy Birthday to a young man whom I know for almost one year. He is an extraordinary young man and that's what he said to me first time we met and that's what I know about him .

He likes history... He knows alot about world history, even more reliable than Wikipedia. His passion is Roman Empire and his heroes are Julius Ceaser, Augustus Ceaser and Marcus Aurelius. He is interested in history since small kid and good at remembering dates and names.
He likes houses... His ultimate hobby is to search for nicest houses and perfect locations all over the world. His favorite places are Mediteranean coasts, Italy, Southern France and Indonesian islands. He dreams of building a big mighty house somewhere in mountain but close to sea so that he could walk down to the water by using private stairs and sail away on his sailing boat. He would like to have a villa in Sweden, a vacation house in Bali and a vineyard in old countryside of France.

He likes movies... He has huge screen, projector and sound system for home theathre in his small room and has more than 200 movies. He likes to watch mighty and goloreous movies like Galadiator, 300, Elizabeth, ..... He prefers horror or war movies over romantic movies. But he sometimes watches romantic movies like Stardust and The Notebook and likes it. He usually has prejudice against movies and judge them without watching. That's why he thinks Twilight is bad and girls' movie and Gone with the Wind is women's movie.

He can be really addicted to tv shows sometimes. He watched Rome several times, finished all eposides of Sopranoes (which is almost 100) in 5 days followed by addiction to My Name is Earl. He follows House MD too. He thinks House is the most hilarous tv character ever.

He is obsessed with truth... So if you are not sure about something you should not argue about it with him. His best friend is Wikipedia.

He likes reading... He is a real bookworm. He has 10 bags of books in storage and a shelf full of books in his small room. He reads history, biography and fantasy books. The latest history book he read was about Chinggis Khaan and Mongolian history. Currently reading Napolean's boigraphy and waiting for next series of fantasy book Games of Thrones. Again he said he would never read Twilight series or Gone with the Wind. Prejudice.

He doesn't collect things. His only collection would be letters and post cards that his gf has send to him.

He likes rock but also Johnny Cash. His mp3 is full of Metallica, Iron Maid, Guns'N Roses... and all cd's of Johnny Cash. He doesn't listen to all of them but he has tausands of songs stored in his computer.

He likes cooking... And he is a good cook too. He follows recipe strictly when cooking and somehow his food turns out to be the most delicious. His favortie meal is all kind of meat, mm except stomach. And he eats fast food like burgers and pizzas alot. He doesn't like vegetables, especially mushroom, broccoli and cabbage. He likes to bake cakes, cookies and pies. He enjoys good food and good drink like fine quality wine or whisky.

He likes travelling... He has been to most of Europe and wants to travel to USA. He likes historical places that's why he turned with 7 rolls of pictures of ruins and stones from Turkey. He would also like to spend summer camping around mountains or sailing around on the sea to be with nature. He would enjoy a moment sitting on top of the mountain, eating dried meat and watching sunset.

He is addicted to pc games... He has played World of Warcraft many times and likes to play the games that give you power of conquering, leading and rule. He tried to conquer China with Mongolian army many times with unsuccessful results. His current addiction is Travian where you build your own city and such.

He has a hidden talent of drawing... especially flowers and hearts.

He is an individualistic person but when it matters he can be a good family member and a good friend. He would like to stay single till age 40 and spend all his time working, travelling, and enjoying life. He doesn't like kids because he thinks kids are evil and bad behaving.

He prefers to be with small (to show weakness of feminity) but strong (to be able to stand on her own) woman. But he would rather like to be seen with above average woman, you know what i mean, like those women you would turn your head to look at them when you see them downtown.

Happy Birthday my friend! May all your good dreams come true!....

Things to remember

1. I love you not because of who you are, but because of who I am when I am with you.
2. No man or woman is worth your tears, and the one who is, won't make you cry.
3. Just because someone doesn't love you the way you want them to, doesn't mean they don't love you with all they have.
4. A true friend is someone who reaches for your hand and touches your heart.
5. The worst way to miss someone is to be sitting right beside them knowing you can't have them.
6. Never frown, even when you are sad, because you never know who is falling in love with your smile.
7. To the world you may be one person, but to one person you may be the world.
8. Don't waste your time on a man/woman, who isn't willing to waste their time on you.
9. Maybe God wants us to meet a few wrong people before meeting the right one, so that when we finally meet the person, we will know how to be grateful.
10. Don't cry because it is over, smile because it happened.
11. There's always going to be people that hurt you so what you have to do is keep on trusting and just be more careful about who you trust next time around.
12. Make yourself a better person and know who you are before you try and know someone else and expect them to know you .
13. Don't try so hard, the best things come when you least expect them to.

REMEMBER: WHATEVER HAPPENS, HAPPENS FOR A REASON.

10 Things I Hate About You

I hate the way you talk to me,
and the way you cut your hair.
I hate the way you drive my car,
I hate it when you stare.
I hate your big dumb combat boots
and the way you read my mind.
I hate you so much it makes me sick,
it even makes me rhyme.
I hate the way you are always right,
I hate it when you lie.
I hate it when you make me laugh,
even worse when you make me cry.
I hate it when you are not around,
and the fact that you didn't call.
But mostly I hate the way I don't hate you,
not even close
not even a little bit
not even at all.

The Meaning of Time

To understand the meaning of one year
Ask a student who was failed his exam

To understand the meaning of one month
Ask a mother who was given birth to a pre-mature baby

To understand the meaning of one week
Ask an editor of weekly magazine

To understand the meaning of one day
Ask a daily wage labor

To understand the meaning of one hour
Ask a girl who was waiting for her boy

To understand the meaning of one minute
Ask a person who has missed the train

To understand the meaning of one second
Ask a person who has survived an accident

To understand the meaning of one milli-second
Ask a printer who has won a silver medal in the Olympics...

In Beijing 2008 olimpics, Micheal Phelps touched the wall just 0.01 secund before his competitor and won the gold medal. If I didn't see by my eyes, I wouldn't beleive above poem..

Five (5) lessons to make you think about the way we treat people

1 - First Important Lesson -
Cleaning Lady

During my second month of college, our professor gave us a pop quiz. I was a conscientious student and had breezed through the questions until I read the last one:
"What is the first name of the woman who cleans the school?"
Surely this was some kind of joke. I had seen the cleaning woman several times. She was tall, dark-haired and in her 50s, but how would I know her name? I handed in my paper, leaving the last question blank.
Just before class ended, one student asked if the last question would count toward our quiz grade.
"Absolutely," said the professor. "In your careers, you will meet many people. All are significant. They deserve your attention and care, even if all you do is smile and say "hello."
I've never forgotten that lesson. I also learned her name was Dorothy.

2. - Second Important Lesson -
Pickup in the Rain

One night, at11:30 p.m., an older African American woman was standing on the side of an Alabama highway trying to endure a lashing rainstorm. Her car had broken down and she desperately needed a ride. Soaking wet, she decided to flag down the next car.
A young white man stopped to help her, generally unheard of in those conflict-filled 1960s. The man took her to safety, helped her get assistance and put her into a taxicab. She seemed to be in a big hurry, but wrote down his address and thanked him.
Seven days went by and a knock came on the man's door. To his surprise, a giant console color TV was delivered to his home. A special note was attached...
It reads: "Thank you so much for assisting me on the highway the other night. The rain drenched not only my clothes, but also my spirit. Then you came along. Because of you, I was able to make it to my dying husband's bedside just before he passed away... God bless you for helping me and unselfishly serving others. Sincerely, Mrs. Nat King Cole."

3 - Third Important Lesson -
Always remember those who serve

In the days when an ice cream sundae cost much less, a 10-year-old boy entered a hotel coffee shop and sat at a table. A waitress put a glass of water in front of him.
"How much is an ice cream sundae?" he asked.
"Fifty cents," replied the waitress.
The little boy pulled his hand out of his pocket and studied the coins in it. "Well, how much is a plain
dish of ice cream?" he inquired.
By now more people were waiting for a table and the waitress was growing impatient.
"Thirty-five cents," she brusquely replied.
The little boy again counted his coins. "I'll have the plain ice cream," he said.
The waitress brought the ice cream, put the bill on the table and walked away. The boy finished the ice cream, paid the cashier and left. When the waitress came back, she began to cry as she wiped down the table. There, placed neatly beside the empty dish, were two nickels and five pennies...
You see, he couldn't have the sundae, because he had to have enough left to leave her a tip.

4 - Fourth Important Lesson. -
The Obstacle in Our Path

In ancient times, a King had a boulder placed on a roadway. Then he hid himself and watched to see if
anyone would remove the huge rock. Some of the king's wealthiest merchants and courtiers came by
and simply walked around it. Many loudly blamed the King for not keeping the roads clear, but none did anything about getting the stone out of the way.
Then a peasant came along carrying a load of vegetables. Upon approaching the boulder, the peasant laid down his burden and tried to move the stone to the side of the road. After much pushing and straining, he finally succeeded. After the peasant picked up his load of vegetables, he noticed a purse lying in the road where the boulder had been. The purse contained many gold coins and a note from the King indicating that the gold was for the person who removed the boulder from the roadway.
The peasant learned what many of us never understand!
Every obstacle presents an opportunity to improve our condition.

5 - Fifth Important Lesson -
Giving When it Counts...

Many years ago, when I worked as a volunteer at a hospital, I got to know a little girl named Liz who
was suffering from a rare and serious disease. Her only chance of recovery appeared to be a blood transfusion from her 5-year old brother, who had miraculously survived the same disease and had developed the antibodies needed to combat the illness. The doctor explained the situation to her little brother, and asked the little boy if he would be willing to give his blood to his sister.
I saw him hesitate for only a moment before taking a deep breath and saying, "Yes I'll do it if it will save her."
As the transfusion progressed, he lay in bed next to his sister and smiled, as we all did, seeing the color returning to her cheek. Then his face grew pale and his smile faded.
He looked up at the doctor and asked with a trembling voice, "Will I start to die right away?"
Being young, the little boy had misunderstood the doctor: He thought he was going to have to give his
sister all of his blood in order to save her.

Why did the chicken cross the road?

ARISTOTLE:
It is the nature of chickens to cross the road.

BUDDHA:
Asking this question denies your own chicken nature.

THE BIBLE:
And God came down from the heavens and He said unto the chicken, "Thou shalt cross the road." And the chicken crossed the road and there was much rejoicing.

PAT BUCHANAN:
To steal a job from a decent, hardworking American.

GEORGE W. BUSH
I don't think I should have to answer that question.

BILL CLINTON:
I did not cross the road with THAT chicken. What do you mean by chicken? Could you define "chicken" please?

DARWIN:
Chickens, over great periods of time, have been naturally selected in such a way that they are now genetically dispositioned to cross roads.

EINSTEIN:
Whether the chicken crossed the road or the road moved beneath the chicken is a matter of relativity.

RALPH WALDO EMERSON:
The chicken did not cross the road. It transcended it.

JERRY FALWELL:
Because the chicken was gay! Isn't it obvious? Can't you people see the plain truth in front of your face? The chicken was going to the "other side." That's what "they" call it: the "other side." Yes, my friends, that chicken is gay. And if you eat that chicken, you will become gay too. I say we boycott all chickens until we sort out this abomination that the liberal media whitewashes with seemingly harmless phrases like "the other side." That chicken should not be free to cross the road. It's as plain and simple as that.

LOUIS FARRAKHAN:
The road, you will see, represents the black man. The chicken 'crossed' the black man in order to trample him and keep him down.

FREUD:
The fact that you are at all concerned that the chicken crossed the road reveals your underlying sexual insecurity.

BILL GATES:
I have just released the new eChicken 2000, which will not only cross roads, but will also lay eggs, file your important documents, and balance your checkbook; and Internet Explorer is an inextricable part of eChicken 2000.

GRANDPA:
In my day, we didn't ask why the chicken crossed the road. Someone told us that the chicken had crossed the road, and that was good enough for us.

ERNEST HEMINGWAY:
To die. In the rain. Alone.

MARTIN LUTHER KING JR.:
I envision a world where all chickens will be free to cross roads without having their motives called into question.

CAPTAIN JAMES T. KIRK:
To boldly go where no chicken has gone before.

MACHIAVELLI:
The point is that the chicken crossed the road. Who cares why? The end of crossing the road justifies whatever motive there was.

KARL MARX:
It was a historical inevitability.

FOX MULDER
You saw it cross the road with your own eyes. How many more chickens have to cross before you believe it?

RICHARD M. NIXON:
The chicken did not cross the road. I repeat, the chicken did NOT cross the road.

RONALD REAGAN:
What chicken?

JERRY SEINFELD:
Why does anyone cross a road? I mean, why doesn't anyone ever think to ask, "What the heck was this chicken doing walking around all over the place, anyway?"

DR. SEUSS:
Did the chicken cross the road? Did he cross it with a toad? Yes! The chicken crossed the road but why it crossed, I've not been told.

KEN STARR:
I intend to prove that the chicken crossed the road at the bequest of the President of the United States in an effort to distract law enforcement officials and the American public from the criminal wrongdoing our highest elected official has been trying to cover up. As a result, the chicken is just another pawn in the President's ongoing and elaborate scheme to obstruct justice and undermine the rule of law. For that reason, my staff intends to offer the chicken unconditional immunity provided he cooperates fully with our investigation.

OLIVER STONE:
The question is not, "Why did the chicken cross the road?" Rather, it is, "Who was crossing the road at the same time, whom we overlooked in our haste to observe the chicken crossing?"

COLONEL SANDERS:
I missed one???

Soyombo

The Soyombo is an old ideogram symbolising the Mongol's freedom and independence. As long ago as the 17th Century, it was depicted on the banners of warriors fighting against the Manchurian invaders and later, on the battle standards of the guerillas of the 1921 People's Revolution. Each element of the symbol has its own meaning. The three tongued flame crowning the emblem symbolise the nation's past, present and future prosperity: from time immemorial fire has meant the continuation of the family and the clan. Depicted underneath the flame are the sun and the crescent, both old Mongolian totems.

"We are the people whose father is the new moon and whose mother is the golden sun", say the old legends. The flame together with the sun and the crescent symbolise the prosperity and progress of the Mongolian nation. The spear or arrow tip turned downwards is supposed to signify victory over the enemy.

The two triangles in the upper and lower part of the ideogram tell about the people's determination to uphold their freedom and independence. The rectangle is the symbol of uprightness, honesty and nobility and the two smaller rectangles symbolise honesty of government and rulers.

In the centre of the Soyombo is the old symbol signifying the unity of pairs of natural elements; fire and water, earth and sky and man and woman. According to other interpretations, this also denotes two fish swimming in concentric circles. The Mongolians see fish as a symbol of vigilance since fish never close their eyes. Fish also symbolise wisdom and reason. The two vertical lines at the sides of the emblem mean friendship and staunchness. An old Mongolian saying goes, "Two friends are stronger than stone walls." In the Soyombo, these two lines are understood to be an appeal, "May the whole nation be bound together by ties of friendship turning it into an indestructible stone fortress."

Always spread like fire.
Always shine like the moon and the sun.
Always be sharp like an arrow and a spear.
Always be strong like armor.
Always be strong like a big wall
Always be watchful like fish.
Always be numerous.

Bayasgalan - Botgon duu

This song is about mother and very nice song. Botgo means baby camel in Mongolian language. So it is like baby camel is singing for his mother, waiting for his mother, missing his mother... But when you watch the clip then there is another meanning. Little boy missing his mother, crying for her. It is like baby camel is singing/expressing the emotion of the little boy. As you know camel is animal of Gobi(desert). Therefore, in the song, it is asked like 'is this my mother' or 'is she coming' because in gobi it is hard to recognize something from distance specially in the mirage. I think they made very meaningful and good clip for this song. So you can combine the clip with my poor translation and can get the meanning of the song.

Chinggis Khan and His Heirs

This year marks the 800th anniversary of the founding of the Great Mongol Empire, the largest and most powerful that history has ever known.

Forged by nomadic people, within a century this world empire had expanded to stretch from the shores of the Pacific Ocean, across the steppe land of Iran and Russia to the plains of Hungary.

Not all these qualities can be attributed to a single man, the empire's founder Chinggis Khan. Nevertheless, it was he who created the first sparks of this fire that began on the steppes of Central Asia at the beginning of the 13th century and blazed across the greater part of the world. His successors developed the state-building project whose outlines he had drawn, and extended it to the farflung corners of the world.

The Great Mongol Empire enjoyed its golden age in the 13th and 14th centuries, as it spread from the Pacific seaboard to Central Europe, leaving lastingtraces on every people and culture with which it came in contact. The Mongols were not only outstanding warriors, but superb administrators of the lands and people they ruled. An efficient system of government, measures to encourage trade, an advanced communications and transportation system, and cultural and religious tolerance were the building stones of the Pax Mongolica. The extensive commerce and exchange of thought and culture between Asia and Europe that resulted continued until the 16th century.

CHINGGIS KHAN AND HIS HEIRS / The Great Mongol Empire is an exhibition which illustrates the story of this visionary world empire in the latest archeological discoveries, gold and silver treasuries, magnificent weapons and armour, manuscripts illustrated with miniatures, ancient maps, textiles, porcelains, and rare sacral objects that reflect the colorful world of Mongol Buddhism. Spectacular works of art loaned by Mongolia's leading museums, and major collections in East Asia, Europe and Turkey throw light on the complex cultural relations between the nomad tribes and settled populations, and following their conversion to Islam the contributions to art and culture of the Ilkhanids in Iran, the Golden Horde in Russia, and the Yuan Dynasty established by Kubilay Khan in China.

[IF] by Rudyard Kipling

If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you
But make allowance for their doubting too,
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or being hated, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise:
If you can dream--and not make dreams your master,
If you can think--and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build 'em up with worn-out tools:
If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it all on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breath a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: "Hold on!"
If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with kings--nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you;
If all men count with you, but none too much,
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And--which is more--you'll be a Man, my son!
--Rudyard Kipling
